The "USE-LESS gallery" showcased the Scottish-Lower Saxony collaboration on sustainable design strategies in an innovative and accessible dissemination and networking format during the international UN Climate Conference (COP26) in November 2021. The participatory and performative concept communicated sustainability knowledge to a broad audience, encouraged the discovery of personal creativity, and raised awareness of the consequences of individual consumption behavior.
Partners from Scotland and Germany, with the involvement of degree programs from various disciplines, developed new presentation formats and modules, which were combined and staged in a multimedia gallery. The "USE-LESS gallery" adopted the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as a framework for content and was therefore versatile in its application.
It could convey topics beyond textiles and clothing and be used regardless of the size and format of the event. The "USE-LESS gallery" was presented as part of the traveling exhibition "USE-LESS: Slow Fashion against Waste and Ugly Clothing" at the Museum August Kestner.
