Q+ - Quality Plus – Program for good teaching in Lower Saxony
The Bachelor's programme in Fashion Design at Faculty III - Media, Information and Design (Department of Media, Information and Design) at Hochschule Hannover – University of Applied Sciences and Arts provides students with the creative, theoretical, and practical foundations as well as application-oriented competencies for starting a career as a fashion designer with an artistic-conceptual and industrial focus. Students learn the skills necessary for the artistic and scientific exploration of fashion and clothing design according to the motto: "Fashion, People, Methods."
The content of the fashion design program enables graduates to work as fashion designers in a wide range of creative fields. They are familiar with all aspects of the industry and can assess their own and others' fashion collections, as well as consumers and target groups in the market. They acquire the competence to take responsibility for the design of fashionable products and series and their conception. They are proficient in the design process on an experimental and technical level and work in two and three dimensions, both digitally and physically, on the design and fit of clothing prototypes.
To ensure the high standard of education and the successful placement rate of graduates in the future, it is essential to further develop the program due to changing demands on the profession of fashion designers. A key focus is the integration of sustainability aspects into the design process. The aim of the proposed project is, therefore, to develop and test concepts for the necessary further development of the fashion design program, while implementing the focus "Sustainable Clothing" and the necessary strategies and measures across all modules.
